The gale in the Channel Islands area and the 10 foot seas it generated have slowed our progress. The wind and seas would hit us directly on the beam if we were to continue in a straight line to the harbor. Very unsafe. We have had to detour north so we could round Pt. Conception at a safer angle. Probably traveled an extra half a day. As I write this we are 50 miles from rounding the Point but again the large breaking swells are not going a favorable direction and we might have to detour. From there it is about 80 miles to the harbor in the lee of the point. So, once we round the Point we are home free. We should arrive sometime on Monday. Hopefully.
